Full Description

Towards the west end of the trench was a ditch, measuring 9m wide and in excess of 1m deep. It contained a sequence of naturally silted deposits between 0.2m and 0.45m thick, possibly reflecting periodic flooding. At the base of the sequence was a very dark bluish organic grey silty clay context. None of the deposits produced any finds. Environmental sampling from the ditch produced frequent seeds of rough grassland and aquatic species.
