Full Description

Towards the centre of the trench was a ditch. It measured 3.1m wide, 0.95m deep, and contained three naturally silted deposits ranging between 0.25m to 0.40m thick. The upper fill produced one sherd of Nottingham coarse sandy ware dating from the of 13th to 15th century and a fragment of medieval roof tile. A soil sample from this ditch contained occasional charcoal and coal flecks.
