Full Description
Four ditches were broadly orientated northwest to southeast. Two ditches terminated within the trench and had rounded terminal ends to the northwest. Three of the ditches extended in both directions beyond the limits of excavation. One of the ditches contained a fragment of 12th to 13th century Nottingham splashed ware pot. A soil sample from another ditch contained a single cereal grain, small amounts of charcoal, and coal.
One ditche truncated a southeast–northwest aligned ditch, which was naturally silted and contained no datable material.
Immediately northeast of those ditches was a larger northwest to southeast orientated ditch, a likely continuation of two features in another trial trench. It measured 3.3m wide by 0.5m deep and was filled by a single naturally silted dark grey sandy silt. The ditch was devoid of finds.
