Full Description

A large sub-circular anomaly, approximately 12 m in diameter, was exposed in the western portion of the Site. It was at least 1 m deep; safety considerations prevented the full depth of the feature from being established. It was found to contain a single fill of mid-greyish brown sand which presented a diverse assemblage of finds (medieval and post-medieval pottery, Romano-British roof tile, clay tobacco pipe and bone). The feature has been interpreted as a rudimentary sand/pebble quarry pit of post-medieval date.
