Full Description

There were a closely set pair of parallel linear anomalies lying close to the eastern edge of the Site. Each was at least 75 m long, and extended beyond both northern and southern limits of excavation. In terms of fill and dimensions, the features correspond with a boundary shown on the First Edition 6-inch Ordnance Survey mapping. During the fieldwork, the local farmer informed the team that the westernmost of the two features was the base of a hedgerow removed within the last ten years. It is likely that the second feature was a similarly modern ditch that once accompanied the hedgerow. The second ditch contained fragments of Romano-British roof tile, residual alongside two fragments of post-medieval brick.
