Full Description

A parallel gully had gently sloping sides and a rounded base and was at least 3m long, 0.3m wide and 0.05m deep. It was filled with greyish brown silty sand.

Immediately to the northeast, an east-west aligned gully had concave sides and base and was 0.45m wide and 0.09m deep. Together with a terminus segment, which was 0.3m wide and 0.06m deep, the
gully was at least 2.05m long. The fill was mid greyish brown silty sand. Following a 0.2m gap, the opposite terminus segment was at least 1.54m long, 0.5m wide and 0.11m deep. It was filled with mid grey brown silty sand. These gullies were fully excavated for finds on the final day but none was discovered.

Immediately to the northeast, a parallel gully terminus was at least 1.4m long, 0.53m wide and 0.06m deep. It was filled with grey brown silty sand.

The narrow gullies probably represent small agricultural enclosures. It is possible that some of the gullies form the northwestern corner of such an enclosure. The gap between the two gully termini is, at 0.2m, too narrow to be an entrance and its function is unclear. Their irregular form and small size are reminiscent of prehistoric features.

All the gullies and ditches were sealed by a subsoil. This may be a remnant agricultural soil, perhaps formed by medieval or later ploughing. It is likely, therefore, that the linear features are from no later than the medieval period. However, no dating evidence was obtained from the site.
