Full Description
A rectilinear anomaly was detected in the north-eastern part of the field that appears to denote the remains of the moat. The arm along the south side is strongly magnetic compared to the west and northern sides that are faintly reflected in the resultant images.
A field boundary truncates the eastern arm of the moat and in effect removes any clear definition of the moated ditch.
On the edge of the moated ditch, a linear high resistance anomaly was recorded indicating a wall. This could represent a retaining wall that lines the edge of the moat. At approximately halfway along this anomaly is a short linear high resistance anomaly running east –west probably denotes an internal wall of a former manor house that once stood within the island of moat.
