The western end of the excavated area contained three linear features together with a single shallow posthole. A curving ditch near the southern edge of the excavated area, was associated with the western of the two geophysical enclosures. The ditch, which was 1.5m wide and 0.4m deep, contained a single, gritty brown sand-silt. The ditch contained a small quantity of pottery, the latest of which dated to the 3rd or early 4th centuries. A soil sample from the western-most excavated segment produced only a small quantity of oak charcoal and a single, unidentifiable charred cereal grain. One of the ditches echoed the course of the enclosure identified in the survey, but lay c.3m to the north. The excavated ditch may have represented an earlier or later phase of this enclosure. Alternately, the excavated ditch and geophysical enclosure might represent a single-phase enclosure with a double ditch.

A second ditch and a roughly parallel gully ran north-west to south-east through this end of the site. The gully 0.65m wide but only 0.15m deep, cut through the in-filled enclosure ditch. The roughly parallel ditch was considerably wider (2.2m) and deeper (0.45m) and its relationship with the enclosure remains unclear. It was filled by a material indistinguishable from the fill of the enclosure, and contained no datable finds. Due to the similarities of the fills, the ditch may have been contemporary with the enclosure ditch, forming an extension to the north.

The second ditch appears to have formed the westerly limit of the site, as the remainder of the controlled excavation area, some 35m in length, contained no further features.
