Full Description

One evaluation trench, intended to reveal evidence for post-medieval clay extraction and on-site brick production (indicated by geophysics), contained a large pit which may well have originally been excavated for post-medieval clay extraction. The pit appeared to have been left open for an extended period but contained no evidence of dumped industrial production residues. Similar or related features may survive in the area which maybe more informative.
