Full Description

A cut of a possible pond was identified in the central part the site. This feature was only observed in section and its full depth was not determined as it continued below the depth of the groundworks. The feature measured 10.45m wide, was at least 0.75m deep and had moderately sloping sides. The initial fill of the feature was a mid-brown silty clay silting fill that yielded no finds. This was overlain by a backfill layer containing a small quantity of post-medieval pottery, and finally a mid-yellowish mottled with a light greyish blue, sandy clay redeposited natural layer.
