Full Description

The trial trenching evaluation carried out at the proposed development site uncovered two ditches on a north to south alignment and one on an east to west alignment in the
eastern half of the Site. A further north-east to south-west aligned ditch was recorded in the south-western corner of the Site, which runs roughly parallel to the extant hedgerow and may be associated with the modern field boundary. No datable evidence was recovered from any of the four ditches recorded, and they do not appear on 19th and 20th century historic maps of the area. The purpose of the recorded ditches is unclear due to the sterile nature of the fills present, though it is possible that the ditches in three trenches could form a field boundary or enclosure of unknown date.
