Full Description

(A sherd of thick, very coarse black ware dated to C2) was found in a second trench cut through the northern rampart and ditch in association with a hard fired grey piece of rim (also C2). This trench yielded many sherds dated to the C2 and C3 and also a small piece of samian ware. This trench is at the time of writing insufficiently complete to establish the existence of the suggested second bank and ditch. (1)
Ro pottery has been found by Mr Coulthard in Thornton's Field, adjoining (Site I). (2)
NB Grid ref approx, no details on the location of the trench are provided.
See L1785 for earthwork enclosure, M1776 for deserted village.
