Abstract/Summary

This report describes the molluscan fauna, plant macrofossils and assorted other fossils from a sample layer taken at Margidinum. The report concludes that the layer is of the Holocene age. The results point towards a shallow aquatic depositional environment, but receiving runoff from short grassland and bare ground. Both the grassland and bare soils point towards human activity, probably mixed pastoral and arable agriculture.

Description

See SNT2071/DR201 for full report of site. Note: this specialist report does not indicate which of the ten test trenches the sample came from, but rather, the layer number, which itself is not discussed in the main report (see SNT2071/DR201). It is therefore impossible to tell where exactly this sample was taken from, as these two documents refer to different numbering systems.
