Description

A 205 x 3m trench was excavated parallel to the SE side of the Fosse Way to determine whether Roman road levels or structural remains survived in this area. The ploughsoil was removed by machine and the surface was trowel cleaned and planned. No features of archaeological interest could be discerned. (1) Grid ref for centre of trench. See E9121 for fieldwalking, E9122 for test pits, E9124 for trench 09, E9125 for watching brief on pipeline.
