Abstract/Summary
Two faxed letters and a fax transmission, which are correspondance from James Greig (Birmingham University) to David Knight (Trent and Peak Archaeological Trust) regarding the results of pollen samples taken during test trench excavations (see SNT2071 for the report; see element numbers 9122 and 9125 for the database entries). The specific location of the pollen results are not indicated, though in the main report (SNT2071), it notes that pollen samples were taken by J. Greig in trenches 1, 2, and 8 (see pages 5 and 8 in the document). J. Greig concludes in this letter that there were only 2 samples taken successfully. The samples indicated swampy conditions, with no cereals, dating to around 5000 years ago. The samples were taken on Dec 2 1992 and Feb 18 1993, and this correspondance dates to Jan 6 1995.
The other letter is written by D. Knight (TPAT), dating from Feb 24 1993, outlining the research objectives of the pollen study.
