Title A46 Safety Improvement Scheme and New Safety Camera Signage between Widmerpool and Saxondale, Nottinghamshire: Archaeological Watching Brief Report
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2008

Abstract/Summary

The results of a watching brief for the excavation of 14 pits for signage along the A46. The watching brief identified no features of archaeological significance, and the layers were primarily post-Victorian or natural. There was a large deposit of material in the southern part of the project where Victorian roadbuilding disturbed an earlier cobbled surface. Two signage pits yielded buried topsoil, and an assessment of the environment sample taken revealed no datable artefactual evidence and shows low environmental potential.
