Source/Archive record (Unpublished document) SNT5185 - Stragglethorpe Lighting Cable Replacement Scheme Nottinghamshire: Archaeological Watching Brief Report

Title Stragglethorpe Lighting Cable Replacement Scheme Nottinghamshire: Archaeological Watching Brief Report
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2006

Abstract/Summary

A watching brief of two exploratory pits and a conduit trench across the A46 carriageway. The pits did not yield any information of archaeological significance (mostly related to the post-Victorian road-making activities). The conduit stretching across the A46 revealed a sequence of road surfaces, including a cobbled surface with predates two phases of tarmac construction. It is possible the cobbled surface is Roman, though there was no direct dating evidence.
