Abstract/Summary
A scheme of archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken during the groundworks for a detached dwelling onland at The Slips, Norwell Road, Caunton.
The Site lies to the north of the 12th century church of St. Andrew, on the edge of the historic core of the village. A single large pit containing 13th – 15th century pottery was recorded during the monitoring; evidence that while this area lay close to domestic occupation, the focus of this was probably to the south, closer to the church and core of the village, or possibly to the east, based on evidence deriving from historic OS mapping.
