Abstract/Summary
A detailed magnetic gradiometer survey was undertaken in connection with a proposed development on land off Main Street, North Muskham, Nottinghamshire. The survey totalled c. 1.2ha.
The survey recorded one positive linear anomaly of a possible archaeological origin, which could form part of a field boundary or enclosure. However, it is aligned with the modern agricultural activity on site therefore a more modern resolve cannot be ruled out.
Two large positive anomalies along the road side were identified which could resolve as archaeological features, and may form features such as quarry or rubbish pits. Other discrete positive anomalies across the field could possibly represent pit like features. However, these are somewhat isolated and are difficult to interpret on the basis of form alone and difficult to rule out a more natural resolve.
