Abstract/Summary

A geophysical survey was undertaken to assess the archaeological potential of a c. 22 ha area of land directly east of the A1 in Blyth, Nottinghamshire. The site was successfully surveyed using cart-based magnetic survey. The magnetic survey hasresponded well to the survey area’s environment. Probable and possible archaeological anomalies have been detected in the form of ring ditches. A former field system has also been detected as well asridge and furrow ploughing. Besidesthese specific anomalies, the geophysical results also reflect modern features, natural features and further agricultural activity.
