Author/Originator | David Budge |
Date/Year | 2011 |
Abstract/Summary
A building site at Manor Farm, Gotham, was inspected by the author on 14/07/2011 in order to investigate claims made by local residents with regard to an alleged breach of planning consent.
The allegations were that excavation had taken place that morning without archaeological supervision and that, when the archaeologist was on site, the archaeological investigation was not being conducted adequately, with finds being abandoned on the spoil heap.
The author saw no evidence to support the allegations.
During the course of the visit a small number of interesting finds, including a prehistoric flint flake and two sherds of late medieval / early post medieval pottery, were recovered after exhaustive searching of the spoil heap.
