Abstract/Summary
Dee Archaeological Services carried out the excavation of four trenches across the site in July 2024. Only trenches 1 and 2 produced archaeological features, both of which were linears cut into the natural deposit. These are thought to represent water management on the site to deal with running from the higher land to the east. A number of tree bowls and an animal burrow were identified. The recovery of only two finds from the site is unusual, certainly for ploughed fields so close to a settlement. Metal detecting and spoil investgation was undertaken on site, but did not lead to the recovery of any additional finds. The two finds from site attest to the historical activity in the wider area, with a single find of Roman CBM and a single Medieval rim sherd of Shelly Ware.
