Description
A pipeline by Severn Trent Water, running for a distance of 9km between Acre Lane, Carlton in Lindrick and Snape Lane, Harworth. The route of the pipe meant it would have to traverse the whole of the E portion of The Alps cropmarks. The archaeolgical excavations were therefore focused on the area between the A634 from Blyth New Bridge at the N, and the minor road to Hodsock Priory at the S, although the smaller number of more widely spaced cropmarks situated immediately to the S of The Alps were also examined briefly. Within this area, topsoil stripping of the easement was watched by an archaeologist, with investigation of features by excavation wherever they were observed. (1)
Grid reference for S end of main area, at the minor road to Hodsock Priory.
See E9464 for pipeline along road, to N and S of this section.
