Description
The Site is located towards the south-eastern end of Bramcote village, Nottingham. The Site is bounded by the A52 (Brian Clough Way) to its immediate west. Hemlock Scout Camp is located immediately east of the Site, with the main compound of Southfields Farm located to its south.
Evaluation works consisted of the excavation of six 50m x 1.8m trenches across two fields within Southfields Farm. These fields had previously been subject to geophysical survey and the trenches were located to investigate a number potential archaeological features which were identified.
The results of the archaeological trial trench evaluation did not correspond closely to the geophysics data, with just one feature being found that appeared to correlate well with a geophysical anomaly. Of the other features that were found, all were either later post-medieval to modern field boundaries or tree throws, along with one modern pit.
