Full Description

A deserted Med village at Willoughby in the parish of Norwell. (2)
(SK 788631) Disturbance characteristic of a DMV - moat and attendant earthworks. (3)
Additional disturbance in the area SK 787629. (4)
A waterfilled homestead moat in good condition. There are traces of desertion at the indicated sites but the disturbances form no coherent pattern. Also there is much surface quarrying in the area. (5)
The only change here is the temporary absence of water in the moat which is now heavily overgrown. (6)
Subdued earthworks representing possible house platforms and some rigg and furrow. A well defined moat c 30m square. The ditch is water filled except for an access in the S edge. Building rubble - stone and brick and tile and mortar were visible on the platform as well as P Med pottery. (7)
Morph: 173.8.1 moat, 173.9.1 ditch, 173.9.2 toft, 173.9.3 fishpond, 173.9.4 field system. (8)
Sub-rectangular moated site and earthworks. (9)
