3 houses and attached stable and cartshed. Late C17, with late C18, mid C19 and C20 alterations. Undergoing restoration at time of survey [1978]. (1)
Mid to late C17. Two-storey with attics of rubble limestone construction under a stone slate roof. Two unheated rooms on each floor lit by mullion and transom windows. Possibly originally a meeting hall. Chimney stacks added to each gable in the mid C18 and staircase inserted. Suggest-ing conversion to domestic use at that time. Converted to a school in the mid C19. When a second staircase was inserted and additional accommodation provided at attic level, lit by dormer win-dows. A 3-storey school master’s house was built onto the west end was also added at this time. During the C20 the building was converted to industrial use. Knitting frames were inserted into the east ground floor room. (2)
