Full Description
A circular anomaly located to the north of the selcted area. It is probably the remains of a ploughed out barrow. (1)
A large circular anomaly was targeted during an evalution. It was indicative of a ploughed out round barrow, a burial mound monument with a peripheral ring ditch normally dating to the Bronze Age. (2)
The evaluation trench was situated to target the circular anomaly believed to be a prehistoric burial mound, as well as a portion of its interior. Excavation revealed the circular
anomaly to be two parallel and most likely concentric ditches. A small pit was also identified to the south of the ditches. Towards the south of the trench the interface between the natural sandy gravel and overlying fine-grained alluvial deposits was encountered. (2)
The single pit contained a single, deliberately deposited charcoal-rich fill. (2)
