Full Description
Fifteen regularly-spaced, circular pit-like depressions were found in the southernmost part of the studyarea. They were enclosed by rectilinear banks and ditches in an area of the forest now characterised by mixed deciduous woodland. These features were all approximately 1.5m in diameter and up to 0.7m deep. It is thought they are the remains of soldier’s foxholes, but their very regular spacing may suggest something more structural.
