Full Description
One evaluation trench contained five ditches of varying sizes, four of which were on an east-west alignment and one was on a northwest-southeast alignment.
One ditch was not identified on any of the previous surveys and is likely to relate to recent agricultural work. Another ditch was unusual as it had two fills, and the lower fill appears to be the result of initial collapse of the sides after excavation. This infilling was not seen in the other sections. There is a possibility that an additional ditch relates to the existing drainage system within the PDA as it is on the same alignment and is of a similar size, but its fill is noticeably different to other land drains seen elsewhere on site. The last two ditches represent cropmark data and a geophysical anomaly respectively.
