A scheme of archaeological evaluation by trial trenching was carried out in an area of known archaeological potential, ahead of a proposed residential development on land off Bawtry Road, Harworth. A total of sixteen trenches were excavated in two phases, targeting anomalies detected as part of earlier geophysical and cropmark surveys. The excavation confirmed the presence of a brickwork enclosure from which a hoard of over 250 3rd-century Roman coins was recovered.
