Full Description
Directly to the south of the standing Grade II Listed Bulcote Farm complex was a large area of tarmac, 0.04m thick. Beneath this were the demolished remains of the Bulcote Farm complex, including metal tracks, wiring, brick walls, cobblestones, concrete foundations, and water pipes.
The extent of Bulcote Farm in 1914 was significantly greater than the standing complex that can be seen today. A portion of the Farm, including four large brick buildings, was demolished and buried under tarmac. These were re-exposed within the evaluation, specifically within six trenches. For example, to the eastern end of one trench, masonry was exposed, directly in line with the standing buildings of the complex.
