Abstract/Summary

The archaeological evaluation at land off Essex Road, Bircotes revealed a number of ditches and pits, most of which are of post-medieval origin and are probably the result agricultural activity or late 20th-century land use changes, including the levelling of ridge and furrow. A possible prehistoric fire pit was identified in Trench 13 which may suggest earlier activity on site.
