Abstract/Summary
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey was undertaken on approximately 27 hectares of land located to the west of High Marnham, Nottinghamshire.
Anomalies of both a definite and a possible archaeological origin have been detected which are likely to represent former field divisions, and small fragmentary enclosures. Former field boundaries have also been detected along with modern ploughing and field drains. A large area of geological responses can be seen within the centre of the Site. A modern electricity pylon and it’s associated cables have caused interference responses across the south of the Site. Magnetic disturbance within the boundaries of the Site can be assigned to interference from the adjacent Crabtree Lane to the west of the Site, and a disused railway line to the north. Overall, the archaeological potential of the Site is deemed to be moderate in the southeast, and low elsewhere.
