Abstract/Summary

A trial trench evaluation comprising 35 trenches was undertaken at Winkburn Solar Farm, Kirklington, Nottinghamshire. The trenches identified pre-Roman Iron Age activity in the central field in the form of curvilinear ditches, possibly forming a larger enclosure and a Roman ditch on the western side of the site. Evidence of post-medieval agricultural practices in the form of plough furrows and drainage ditches were also identified.
