Description

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken with the objective of establishing whether archaeological remains survived within the site of 'The Gap' … two trenches were machine excavated using a toothless ditching bucket. Trench 01 was c.16 x 3m and trench 02 was c.7 x 3m. After the topsoil and overburden had been removed in this way, the base and sides of each trench were cleaned by hand and any features exposed were assessed by half or quarter sectioning. (1) See E623 for 1972 Todd excavations.
