Abstract/Summary
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey was undertaken on approximately 20 hectares of land located to the south of Steetley Lane, Shireoaks, Nottinghamshire.
Anomalies of both a definite and a possible archaeological origin have been detected including a ‘D’shaped enclosure, smaller possible enclosures, and a field system. Uncertain anomalies may be associated with former quarrying. Former field boundaries have been recorded along with modern ploughing. A service pipe has been recorded bisecting the northern field. Magnetic disturbance along the limits of the survey area is due to interference from metal fencing within the boundaries and the railway line in the southeast.
